If your summers are extremely hot, try my method of making Yogurt using the ☀️ sun as your incubator. This recipe works best when there’s a heat wave with consistent temps around 90°F-100°F all day. If you don’t have heat waves where you live, you can still make this recipe using a yogurt maker.

Be sure the milk you’re using is Ultra-Pasteurized or UHT, this won’t work with Pasteurized milk. When you warm the milk, don’t heat beyond 120°F or you’ll risk the chance of destroying the yogurt culture. I used small glass pudding jars, but mason jars work well too

How to make Yogurt using the Sun

Ingredients

  • 4 Cups Ultra-Pasteurized Milk
  • 1 Cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • ¼ Cup Plain Yogurt
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Method

  • 1)

    Add ¼ Cup Plain Yogurt and a splash of milk to a mixing bowl, stir until it’s completely smooth. Add 1 Cup Sweetened Condensed Milk, 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract, mix to combine.

  • 2)

    Warm 4 Cups of Ultra-Pasteurized Milk to 120°F (slightly warmer than a hot bath), add this milk to the mixing bowl and give it a quick stir.

  • 3)

    Pour into small serving jars or mason jars, and seal with a lid. Place the jars into a metal baking pan or on top of a metal baking sheet and place in a sunny spot outdoors for 8-10 hours. Refrigerate overnight before serving. Enjoy!
