Sườn Nướng or Vietnamese Grilled Pork Chop is one of my favorite foods. The marinade is so delicious and flavorful, grilling it over charcoal gives it a wonderful smokey flavor. Enjoy it with jasmine rice or cơm tấm (broken rice) along with green leaf lettuce, sliced cucumbers and tomato.

Look for thin bone in pork chops. Make a few small 1 cm slits around the edges of the pork chops, every inch or so to prevent the pork chops from curling when you cook them. Vietnamese Grilled Pork Chop Recipe (Sườn Nướng)

Grilling these on a BBQ will give you the best flavor, but if that isn’t an option you can all pan grill themVietnamese Grilled Pork Chop Recipe (Sườn Nướng)

I used this  Chấm Dipping Sauce to dip the greens and the pork chop.  It’s spicy, tangy and savory, the perfect compliment to this dish.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 Pounds thin Pork Chops
  • 5 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Fish Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce
  • ⅛ Teaspoon Five Spice Powder
  • ¼ Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Shallot, finely chopped

GLAZE

  • 2 Teaspoons Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce

Method

  • 1)

Make a few small 1 cm slits around the edges of the pork chops, every inch or so to prevent the pork chop from curling when you cook them. Combine 5 Minced Garlic Cloves, 3 Tablespoons Sugar, 1 Tablespoon Fish Sauce, 3 Tablespoons Soy Sauce, 1 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce, ⅛ Teaspoon Five Spice Powder, ¼ Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper, 1 chopped Shallot – coat each pork chop well in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for 8-24 hours.

  • 2)

When you’re ready to cook, make the glaze by mixing 2 Teaspoons Oil, 1 Tablespoon Honey, 1 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce and set aside. Cooking these on high heat with a charcoal grill will give you the best flavor. Quickly sear both sides and start brushing on the glaze, flipping often. Since the pork chops are thin, they will cook very quickly. Serve immediately & Enjoy!
