I’m sharing my easy recipe for Banana Buttercream Frosting – it’s American-style Buttercream (sweetest type of buttercream), so the main ingredients are butter + powdered sugar, so it’s very simple to make.  You’ll need McCormick Banana Extract, which you can find at any grocery store – it has a lovely banana flavor, perfect for frosting cupcakes or a layered caked. This recipe will make enough frosting for about a dozen cupcakes if you like to pile frosting high like I do.

Ingredients

  • 12 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, room temp
  • 4 Tablespoons Cream Cheese, room temp
  • 3 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1¼ Teaspoon McCormick Banana Extract
  • ½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Method

  • 1)

Add 12 Tablespoons Butter and 4 Tablespoons Cream Cheese into a mixing bowl, use the whisk attachment and mix on high speed for about 6 minutes, it should look light and creamy.

  • 2)

Turn off the mixer, add 1 Cup of Powder Sugar, turn on low until most of the powdered sugar is absorbed, then mix on med-high for about 3 minutes, add the rest of the powdered sugar ½ Cup at a time, waiting until it fully incorporates before adding more Powdered Sugar.

  • 3)

Add 1¼ Teaspoon Banana Extract, ½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract and whip on high speed for another 3-5 minutes, scrape the bowl to make sure everything is mixing evenly – the frosting should be smooth, creamy and fluffy.
