Churros, the Spanish deep fried treat that’s popular worldwide. The best ones are always from vendors who make them fresh & deep fried to order, if the only churros you’ve had are the ones from the stands where they just reheat frozen ones, you’re missing out! Fresh churros are very quick and easy to make and you probably already have all the ingredients in your pantry. *Watch my 30-second Instagram recipe video here

Use a large open star tip with a reusable pastry bag. You could try using disposable pastry bags if they are very thick, but there’s a chance the bag will rip since the batter is very thick.  A deep fry thermometer is also a must, if the oil isn’t reaching the proper temp, you’ll end up with soggy, oily churros homemade churros recipe

Churros should be very crispy, slightly chewy and the center will still be very soft, almost gooey

  • 2)

Put the dough into a reusable coated pastry bag with a large star tip (about the same size as Ateco 829 tip)

  • 3)

Heat at least 2 inches of oil for frying in deep-fryer or dutch oven to 375°F. It’s important to have a candy/deep fry thermometer to properly control the oil temp. Fry in small batches, pipe 5 inch strips of dough into hot oil and use scissors to cut the dough. The temp will drop to around 350°F and you want to try to keep it at that temp. Fry until golden and drain on paper towels. Let the oil return to 375°F before frying the next batch.

  • 4)

Combine ½ cup Sugar and ½ Teaspoon Cinnamon. Roll drained churros in sugar mixture. Serve with chocolate ganache dipping sauce or enjoy with hot chocolate
