If you’re from California, you’ll understand the love for Carne Asada Fries!  Charred steak over fries with tons of melted cheese – this is a crowd pleasing appetizer (even though I know plenty of people who’ve eaten this as a meal😂).  You can make this at home pretty easily with a few ingredients from Trader Joe’s.

You can also use the carne asada for nachos, these Trader Joe’s Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips are the best for nachos because of their thicker, crispier texture. Trader Joe’s Carne Asada Fries Recipe Hack

Ingredients

  • 24 oz Trader Joe’s Handsome Cut Potato Fries
  • Package of Trader Joe’s Carne Asada Autentica
  • 12 oz Trader Joe’s Mexican Style Cheese Blend
  • Trader Joe’s Pico de Gallo Salsa
  • Guacamole
  • Sour Cream

Method

  • 1)

Pre-heat oven to 425°F and place the frozen fries on a single layer on a lightly oiled baking sheet. The package instructions say to bake for 14 minutes, but if you want the fries to be crispier you’ll have to bake them for 25-30 minutes.

  • 2)

You’ll want to time it so the carne asada is done when the fries are done baking. Cook the Carne Asada using your preferred method – I grilled them on a charcoal BBQ for the best flavor. Cut them into small cubes. I only needed half the amount of carne asada that came in the package for the fries, so you can use the rest for tacos, burritos or nachos.

  • 3)

Sprinkle a generous amount of cheese over the fries, return to the oven for just a few minutes until the cheese is melted. Place them onto a large plate, top with Carne Asada, Pico de Gallo Salsa and Guacamole / Sour Cream on the side. Enjoy!
