I received my gift card prize along with the sweetest message  from winning Trader Joe’s Instagram #TJsMilkshakeContest Guess what I spent it on??? I got supplies to make another crazy milkshake. There’s a reason why Trader Joe’s set a 5 item limit for the contest, so the recipes wouldn’t get out of control like this one  😂  I had fun making this & it turned out so delicious! The flavor is very reminiscent of Good Humor’s Strawberry Shortcake ice cream bars.  I’m sure even Black Tap would give a thumbs up to this milkshake. Watch my 30-second Instagram recipe video here

Ingredients

  • 1½ Cups Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 2 Tablespoons Milk
  • 8 Trader Joe’s Vanilla Joe Joe’s
  • ⅓ Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries
  • Trader Joe’s Mini Vanilla Bean Sheet Cake
  • 6 Hulled Strawberries, plus more for garnish
  • ⅓ Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 Tablespoon Granulated Sugar

Method

  • 1)

Place 8 Vanilla Joe Joe’s into a ziplock bag & crush into crumbs. Place ⅓ Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries into a separate bag & crush into chunky crumbs. Combine the Joe Joe’s crumbs & freeze dried strawberry crumbs on a plate and set aside. Watch my 30-second Instagram recipe video here

  • 2)

Cut two even triangular slices from the Mini Vanilla Bean Sheet Cake, stack them on top of each other to make a 2-layer slice of cake. Use a spatula or knife to spread the frosting from the top layer so the frosting covers the entire slice. Place into the freezer for 5 minutes so it firms up.

  • 3)

Use some frosting from the leftover Mini Vanilla Bean Sheet Cake and spread it on the top two inches of the milkshake glass rim. Roll the rim of the glass in Joe Joe’s / freeze dried strawberry crumbs. Take the slice of cake out of the freezer & cover the cake in Joe Joe’s / freeze dried strawberry crumbs. Set aside

  • 4)

Make the whipped cream by adding ⅓ Cup Heavy Whipping Cream and 1 Tablespoon Granulated Sugar into a stand mixer. Mix on high until medium-stiff peaks form. Place into a pastry bag fitted with a star tip. Add a big swirl of whipped cream on top of the slice of cake & top with a strawberry.

  • 5)

Make the milkshake by adding 6 hulled Strawberries, 2 Tablespoons Milk, 1½ Cups Vanilla Ice Cream and the leftover Vanilla Joe Joe’s / freeze dried strawberry crumbs. Blend until smooth. Pour into the milkshake glass. Add the slice of cake on top of the glass. Decorate with more whipped cream along the bottom of the slice of cake. Add 3 strawberries to a long skewer, then add to the milkshake glass. Enjoy with a straw & fork!
