Prep time: 20 minutes

Serves: 3½ Cups Buttercream

This Ube Buttercream is one of the easiest recipes for frosting, it’s a variation of my Russian Buttercream recipe,  the texture is similar to Swiss Meringue Buttercream, silky smooth & pipes like a dream. The flavor is more balanced since it’s not as sweet as American Buttercream, and it’s made with sweetened condensed milk, which also adds a unique flavor. This recipe makes enough to frost 24 cupcakes or a 7-8 inch layer cake.

You only need these 3 ingredients to make Ube Buttercream, purchase the ube flavoring here Ube Buttercream Frosting Recipe

  • Prep time: 20 minutes
  • Serves: 3½ Cups Buttercream

Ingredients

  • 1 Teaspoon Ube Flavoring
  • 14 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk, refrigerated overnight
  • 1½ Cups Unsalted Butter, cubed and room temp ≈70°F

Method

  • 1)

Place 1½ Cups room temp Unsalted Butter into a mixing bowl. Mix on high speed with the whisk attachment for about 7 minutes, scrape the bowl half way through. It should look fluffy and much lighter in color. Add 1 Teaspoon Ube Flavoring and mix for another minute.

  • 2)

Switch to medium speed and slowly drizzle in the 14 oz can of Sweetened Condensed Milk. Once you’ve added it all, scrape the bowl and mix on high speed for another 7 minutes. It should look fluffy and creamy. If it looks separated, the butter might be too warm, place the mixing bowl into the fridge for 15 minutes and mix again until it’s creamy and smooth. Taste and adjust to your liking, you can add ½-1cup of powdered sugar if you prefer it sweeter or add a little more Ube Flavoring (frosting will also be darker purple). After you’re done mixing, use a spatula to stir up the buttercream, this helps get rid of any air pockets and will make the buttercream smoother. Use the buttercream to frost the cooled cupcakes or layered cake. Enjoy!
