I’ve been making rice krispie treats since I was a kid, it’s one of the easiest treats to make. I’ve adjusted the classic recipe slightly – I brown the butter and add vanilla extract to give the rice krispie treats a richer & bolder flavor.

It was Valentine’s Day, so I drizzled on some melted white chocolate and added a few heart sprinkles.

Ingredients

  • 6 Cups Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 10 oz Bag of Mini Marshmallows
  • 5 Tablespoons Salted Butter
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Method

  • 1)

Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan with butter and set aside. Melt 5 Tablespoons of Salted Butter in a large pot on medium high heat – stirring often. Once the butter starts to turn a light brown color and smell slightly nutty, turn off the heat and add the marshmallows. Stir well, the residual heat should melt the marshmallows – if they don’t all melt, turn the heat to low until they are melted.

  • 2)

Once the marshmallows are completely melted, add 2 Teaspoons of Vanilla Extract and stir well. Add 6 Cups of Rice Krispie Cereal and stir until the cereal is evenly coated with marshmallows. Pour the mixture into the 9 x 13 inch pan and press down into the pan so it’s even. Place the pan into the refrigerator for 15 minutes so it firms up. Cut into 2 inch squares and serve. Enjoy!
