Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea with Trader Joe’s NEW Instant Boba Kit – first time trying out their boba and I have mixed feelings about it… The boba pearls are sourced from Taiwan and the texture is nice, they’re soft and chewy. The boba pearls are smaller than what you’d get from they shops, also the amount you get per packet is very small, you’d need 3 servings to get the amount of boba you’d get from a shop (so the photo on the packaging is misleading, they must have used all for 4 packets for the photo). I think they do this to keep the calorie count low per serving, so if you want to limit your boba intake, this might be a good thing. It’s $5.49 for 4 servings of boba pearls in brown sugar syrup – it appears to be the same exact one that Costco sells in the freezer aisle. It’s a good option for instant, I just wish it had more boba in each packet. If you live by any Asian markets check out 5-minute boba pearls as well
The Instant Boba packet are frozen, you can reheat them in the microwave or in boiling water. The kit comes with paper straws that surprising hold up well
The boba pearls are soft and chewy, slight softer and smaller than the shops, but I really liked the texture
